ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Performs the duties per the Occupational Therapist Scope of Practice, including but not limited to: 

  • Examines patients with impairments, functional limitations, and disability or other health-related conditions to determine a diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention. 
  • Alleviates impairments and functional limitations by designing, implementing, and modifying therapeutic interventions. 
  • Prevents injury, impairments, functional limitations, and disability, including the promotion and maintenance of fitness, health, and quality of life in all age populations. 
  • Engages in consultation, education, and research. 
  • Maintains a record on each patient including physician orders, diagnosis, treatment, progress, record of attendance and summary, in a timely manner. Submit and verify patient charges for services rendered. 
  • Provides appropriate supervision of aides and assistants. 
  • Establishes the activities program for swing bed patients, contacting those patients in compliance with hospital requirements. 
  • Physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting 
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs 
  • Participates in continuing education activities and obtain required contact hours. 
  • Actively participates in discharge planning. 
  • Appropriately delegates care to COTA

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

    MINIMUM 

  • Graduated from accredited Occupational Therapy Program 
  • Must have a current and/or willing to obtain OT license within the state of practice (Colorado). 
  • BLS Certificate 

    PREFERRED

  • Understanding of Rural Healthcare

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: 

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.

Holyoke homes a historical museum with different artifacts of what has built Holyoke today. You will see the fields turn different colors throughout different seasons. Your wheat, corn, alfalfa, are some of the few cultivating growths that you will see around your area! If you enjoy hunting, there are plenty of opportunities for a good catch. You will discover that you can see the most beautiful sunsets and the clearest starry nights out in the rural areas.
